Reverse circulation principle: In traditional drilling, drilling cuttings are transported out of the wellhead through the circulation of mud. In the gas lift reverse circulation rig, the cuttings are pushed out of the well through the gas lift principle, and no mud circulation is required. This reduces the amount of mud used and disposal costs, while also reducing the risk of wall erosion and wellbore collapse.

During drilling, gas passes through the drill pipe to the bottom of the well, forming a gas column to lift the drill pipe and cuttings.
